Kerrys are born black and turn into shades of blue, black and greys in their second year… all are acceptable ranges. Size is med/large--weight ranges 35-50 pounds. Strong, sturdy and muscular. This breed is high energy !! If you are a jogger or enjoy outdoorsy activities this may be the breed for you… a great house pet also, but has a wonderful time exploring new things and going places. Boating, hiking, swimming, walking, this breed will want to participate!! Loves to travel . Gets along well with most other pets; can be a little overbearing, and should be supervised with small animals. |
Non shedding coat!! Also non allergenic, produces very little dander. Coat care and grooming maintenance is high. Brushing twice a week, and grooming every 4-6 weeks.. The shorter cuts are less demanding and require less maintenance.

Highly trainable!! Puppy kindergarten or early 16 week training classes are recommended. This breed is strong willed. Obedience and manners should be taught early to be appreciated for life. Love to learn; thrive on mental stimulation. Boredom will result in destructive behavior if not active enough. This is a family member and does not do well with too much alone time. He craves to be with you at all times. This breed is a pleasure to own and you will cherish the personality and charm of a Kerry Blue. |
